Teatro LHDC was invited to perform in this years Latino Youth Conference at North Elementary School in Tracy this past Saturday, February 7, 2009. A little over 400 students and individuals from all over the Central Valley gathered to participate in workshops presented by community leaders.
The large crowd also enjoyed entertainment by Teatro LHDC, who had the honor of sharing the stage with the legendary Chicana labor leader, the events keynote speaker, Dolores Huerta. For more than forty years she has dedicated her life to the struggle for justice, dignity, and a decent standard of living for farm workers.

- In recognition of her work, has received honorary doctoral degrees from 4 different universities, including Princeton University in May 2006.
- Has been arrested 22 times for participating in non-violent civil disobedience activities & strikes.
- In May 2007, endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.
Ms. Huerta is the founder and president of The Dolores Huerta Foundation. The organization is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build active communities working for fair and equal access to health care, housing, education, jobs, civic participation and economic resources for disadvantaged communities with an emphasis on women and youth.
